The bottom player in a white gi hooks the standing opponent's lead leg from the outside in De La Riva guard.

De La Riva Guard

Named after Ricardo De La Riva, this open guard hooks the opponent's forward leg from the outside while the other foot controls the far hip or bicep. It is the foundation of the modern gi game - berimbolo, leg drag counters and back takes all start here - and works in no-gi with adjusted grips.
